Morgan, Freeman are wed at First Baptist

Robert Dale Morgan Jr. and Lana Claire Freeman were married at 6 p.m. Dec. 19, 2009, at First Baptist Church. Dr. Douglas Matthew Buckles Sr. officiated at the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Josh “Winky” Freeman Jr. of Vicksburg. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. William David Smith III of Houston, Miss., and Mrs. Hugh Josh Freeman Jr. and the late Hugh Josh Freeman Jr. of Natchez.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dale Morgan of Vicksburg. He is the grandson of Jerry Peden Hill and the late George Edward Hill of Holly Springs, Miss., and Augusta Mae Daniel Morgan and the late Sam Pole Morgan of Sturgis, Miss.
The bride was given in marriage by her father.
A program of nuptial music was presented by Mrs. Jamie Lloyd Tillotson, pianist and organist; Jane Hastings Armstrong, violinist; Matthew Joel Wyatt, soloist; Jima Lewis Branning, Jena Harrington Faver and Julie Harrington McKenzie, trio; and the Rev. Gerald Dana Gore, worship leader. A Christmas memory tree was placed in memory of deceased grandfathers of the bridal couple.
Matron of honor was Anna Elizabeth Freeman Wyatt, sister of the bride, of Tupelo. Bridesmaids were Brady Willis Morgan and Leslie Horn Vollor, both of Vicksburg; Sommer Smith Armstrong of Saltillo; Brandi Parker Morgan of Starkville; Melissa Cook Robbins of Brandon; and Samantha Polly Smith of Pa-ducah, Ky.
Honor attendants were Avery Lynn Liddell and Shelby Claire Liddell, both of Vicksburg.
The groom’s father served as best man. Groomsmen were Brett Daniel Morgan and Bryce Edwin Morgan, both of Starkville; Joshua Peden Morgan of Vicksburg; Walter Edward Hill of Meridian; John Baker Harrington of Sturgis; and Kevin Bryan Sluder of Pensacola, Fla.
Ushers were Matthew Joel Wyatt of Tupelo, Sam Pole Morgan III of Starkville and John Chadwick Hill of Birmingham, Ala.
Flower girl was Emma Grace Smith of Greenbriar, Ark. Ring bearer was Adam Haley Smith of Greenbriar.
Special assistants were Mrs. Robert Erwin Oakman, Mrs. David Joe Boolos, Mrs. David Lee Chaney and Mrs. Hugh Josh Freeman Sr.

A reception was held at the B’nai B’rith Literary Club. Guests were entertained with music by the Patrick Smith Band.
Greeters were Carlisha Brooks, Anne Elizabeth Buys, Lindsey Collins, Emily Douglas, Meg Edney, Hannah Gore, Erin Ingram, Rachel Lynch and Rachel Rhett.
For a wedding trip, the couple traveled to Perdido Key, Fla. They will make their home in Starkville.
The bride is an educational consultant, and the groom is employed by the Starkville Public Schools as a teacher and offensive coordinator for the Starkville Yellow Jackets.
Rehearsal dinner
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Monsour’s at the Biscuit Company on the eve of the wedding.
Bridesmaids’ brunch
Mrs. William David Smith III, Mrs. Chad Armstrong, Mrs. John Michael Smith and Mrs. Matthew Joel Wyatt hosted a bridesmaids’ brunch at Georgia’s at the Depot in Port Gibson the morning before the wedding. The bride chose this time to present gifts to her bridesmaids.
Bachelorette party
The bride’s attendants honored her with a weekend bachelorette party at the Alluvian Hotel and Spa in Greenwood.
Engagement party
The couple was honored with an engagement party at Cedars by the Lake, home of Dr. and Mrs. Stanley Randall Easterling.
