PCA girls win nailbiter; boys fall to Russell|Prep basketball

Claire Mims swished a pair of free throws with no time remaining to give Porters Chapel (1-13) its first victory of the season, 45-43, over Russell Christian on Thursday.

Shelby Wells, who scored a game-high 25 points, hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with five seconds left to put PCA ahead by one at 43-42 before Russell came back to tie the contest on a free throw.

In the boys’ game, Matthew Warren scored 11 points and Talbott Buys added nine as the Eagles (4-9) fell to Russell 39-37.
