Megan T. Schrock

Mrs. Megan T. Schrock died Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, Miss. She was 59.
Born in Vicksburg, she was the daughter of the late Robert Davis Thornton Jr. and Jacqueline Ellis Thornton. She was a graduate of H.V. Cooper High School and attended Belhaven College. Mrs. Schrock was active in numerous civic organizations and community services.
She was a member of Crawford Street United Methodist Church, where she was a former member of the Council on Ministries and was active in the Shepherding Ministries and in youth programs, including teaching Sunday school.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Kurt R. Schrock of Vicksburg; one son, Dr. Benjamin L. Schrock (Erica) of Winston-Salem, N.C.; two sisters, Betty Kay T. Adams (Bobby) of Brandon and Mona T. Lairscey (Royce) of Conroe, Texas; one brother, Robert M. “Rocky” Thornton of Grenada; several nieces and nephews; and an aunt and an uncle.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Robert Davis Thornton Sr. and Bessie Smith Thornton.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Crawford Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Cary Stockett and the Rev. Geoffrey Joyner officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Monday at Riles Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until the service Tuesday at the church.
