This is in reference to your article, “City scraps warehouse plan” in The Vicksburg Post on Jan. 23. This purchase of 940 crowd control barriers was a mistake. Someone just wanted to spend that $67,680 federal grant. (Our tax money.)

How many barricades do you think will be needed for a parade on Washington Street with a crowd of about 9,000? Maybe we can give some to our schools, even Jackson.

Now two 53-foot trailers are being considered for $10,000 to store the barricades. All of this is a waste of money. I don’t believe you can put 940 barriers on two trailers.

Stop trying to find ways to spend federal, state or local tax dollars on things not needed.
