Phones, cash, wallet missing in burglaries

A business burglary was reported in the city Tuesday.
Reported missing at 7:28 a.m. from Ace Muffler Shop, 1300 Clay St., was $920.
Separately, an auto burglary and residential burglary were also reported in the city.
An iPhone valued at $200 and a wallet containing personal items were reported missing at 12:29 p.m. from a 2007 Nissan Quest in the 200 block of Cain Ridge Road.
An Xbox game console valued at $400, four video game controllers valued at $200 and a Motorola cell phone valued at $100 were reported missing at 4:36 p.m from a home in the 300 block of Longview Street.
Brakes fail, car flips, city woman treated
A Vicksburg woman was treated and released from River Region Medical Center after a one-car accident Tuesday.
Renee Peacock, 35, 1103 Jefferson St., was northbound on Farmer Street at about 10:30 a.m. when the brakes failed in her 2000 Ford Explorer near Mundy Street. Authorities said Peacock swerved to miss a vehicle and drove off the road and down a 20-foot ravine, causing the vehicle to flip at least three times.
A passenger, Salento Weathersby, 30, 1017 Demetra Drive, Port Gibson, was not injured.
Separately, on Interstate 20 near Mount Alban Road, a Hazlehurst man was taken to the hospital after a one-car wreck at 4:32 a.m. Tuesday.
Gerald Kelly, 46, 112 Williams St., was treated and released from River Region Medical Center, hospital spokesman Allen Karel said.
No wreck information was available.
Sawdust hopper fire forces evacuations
A fire inside two sawdust hoppers evacuated workers Tuesday at Batesville Casket Company.
Smoke billowed from the structure at the rear of the U.S. 61 South property during the fire, first reported at 9:21 a.m.
No injuries were reported.
City man arrested on weapons charge
A Vicksburg man was in the Warren County Jail this morning accused of a weapons charge.
Scott Murrain, 55, 10150 U.S. 61 South, was arrested at 6:43 this morning and charged with possession of a weapon by a felon, jail records showed.
He was held without bond.
Pearl man jailed for grand larceny
A Pearl man was in the Warren County Jail this morning accused of grand larceny.
Joshua Redditt, 28, 1224 Lee Drive, was arrested Tuesday and charged with grand larceny, jail records showed.
He was held without bond.
