Vicksburg and Warren County criminals have been busy with vehicles in the past few days.
In addition to six vehicle burglaries being made public by city and county authorities this morning, one vehicle was reported stolen and recovered and another, reported stolen during the weekend, was found.
A 2008 Toyota Tundra reported stolen Sunday from the 4700 block of Nailor Road was recovered this monring in the 2100 block of Iowa Avenue, said Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace.
A 2007 Chevrolet pickup was reported stolen from Oakmont Manor apartments, 225 Cain Ridge Road, at 5:47 a.m., Sgt. Sandra Williams of the Vicksburg Police Department said. Pace said deputies recovered the truck at about 7:30 a.m. in the 10,000 block of Halls Ferry Road.
Also at the apartment complex, a 2009 Ford F-150 and a 2007 Chevrolet were reported entered through broken windows, Williams said. Nothing was reported missing.
She said she did not know if the burglaries and theft were related.
In other vehicle burglaries reported this morning:
• A Garmin GPS and a phone charger were reported stolen from a Chevrolet pickup in the 100 block of Laura Lake Road at 6:42 a.m..
• A gaming badge and a $200 purse were reported missing from a car in the 200 block of Lealand Drive at 5:35 a.m. The vehicle was entered through a broken window.
• In the same block about 20 minutes earlier, a 2009 Dodge pickup was reported entered, but nothing was reported missing.
At 4:24 p.m. Monday, a Mossberg 835 12-gauge shotgun valued at $300 was reported stolen from a Dodge Ram 2500 in the 400 block of Ross Road.
Sheriff Pace said this morning that the continuing problems with thefts means residents need to be more diligent about locking their vehicles.
“They’re leaving their cars unlocked and leaving valuables, such as weapons, in them and the vehicles are being hit,” he said.
