Employees of APAC lay asphalt at the entrance to the Vicksburg National Military Park Wednesday evening. APAC was subcontracted by DCD Construction of Ocean Springs to resurface the parking lots at the Visitors Center, the USS Cairo Museum and the main entrance. The 99,000 square feet of asphalt cost about $150,000. If weather permits, the crew will begin on the Cairo Museum parking lot Monday, workers said. Spring and summer are prime tourism times at the park, and the annual Run Thru History, which begins where the work was under way Wednesday, is scheduled for March 6.
