Yates, Drake wed Dec. 19 at Rainbow Event Center

Davebrielle Donté Yates and Kimberlee Michele Drake were married at 3 p.m., Dec. 19, 2009, at Rainbow Event Center . The Rev. Leon Nelson officiated at the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leandrew Drake Sr. of Vicksburg. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Drake and Sarah Wilson and the late Irvin “Buddy” Wilson.
The groom is the son of Linda Williams and Mr. and Mrs. David Hall of Vicksburg. He is the grandson of Juanita Yates and the late Lewis Yates and LeeEsther Hall.
The bride was given in marriage by her father.
A program of nuptial music was presented by pianist C.J. Williams and soloists Linda Powell, Kevin Winters, Ruby Regan and Nefertari Moses.
Maids of honor were Naomi Green of Columbus, Jayne Hunter of Houston, Texas, and Daphney Smith of Fort Worth, Texas. Bridesmaids were LaTonia Drake and Kaitlin Ferguson, both of Vicksburg; Ramona Drake Johnson of Sidon; Nykela Jackson of Petal; Garlyn Mohler of Gulfport; Angela Lott of Lutcher, La.; and Sakina Hopskins of Houston,
Junior bridesmaids were Jasmine Winters and Lartrease Harris, both of Vicksburg, and Christina Epps of Port Gibson.
Best men were Kyle Sykes of Brandon and Carl Bridges of Lewisville, Texas. Groomsmen were Anthony Cummins, Leandrew Drake Jr., Dedrick Lindsey and Darryl Carson, all of Vicksburg; Lemichal Drake and Frank James III, both of Hattiesburg; Adam Carson of Flowood; and Preston Nailor of Clinton.
Junior groomsmen were Carl DeFrance, Dominique Williams and Michael Wilson, all of Vicksburg.
Ushers were Kenneth Wheatley of Madison and Gregory Wilson of Jackson.
Flower girls were Aniyah Crayton and Jordan Crayton, both of Milwaukee, Wis.; Makenna Wheatley of Madison; Ashlyn Green of Columbus; and Nyla Washington of Vicksburg. Ring bearer was Markevion Montgomery of Vicksburg.
Mary Jo Harris and Linda Collins, both of Vicksburg, served as memorial lighters.
Bible bearer was Caden Washington of Vicksburg. Bell ringer was Leandrew Drake III of Vicksburg.
Christopher Epps of Port Gibson served as wagon puller, and broom carrier was Evan Price of Vicksburg.
Keisha Washington served as the bride’s proxy. Special wedding assistants were Pamela Durman, Marie Byrd, Patricia Washington, Shonna Morton, Patricia Terrell, Geralline Wilkerson, Maryann Artz, Glen Hicks, Robert Hubbard, Cedric Tillman, Zelner Murphy, Yvonne Thomas and Dawn Meeks.
A reception followed at Rainbow Event Center.
Hostesses were Lois Drake Coleman, Mildred Gilliam, Carolyn Johnson, Jennifer Jones, Glenda Rader and Carolyn Bingham, all of Vicksburg; Chelshe Archie and Fellecchia Epps, both of Port Gibson; Kimberly Nailor of Clinton; and Mackee Sykes of Brandon.
Guests were entertained with music by DJ Bennie Peoples.
Special reception assistant was Vince Geneva.
For a wedding trip, the couple traveled on a cruise to the Western Caribbean and Cozumel.
They will make their home in Vicksburg. The bride is a theatrical dance and arts instructor with the Claiborne County Public Schools, and the groom owns Donté Yates LLC.
Luncheon
Members of the wedding party were honored with a luncheon hosted by the bride’s parents at the Rainbow Event Center the day of the wedding.
Rehearsal dinner
The groom’s mother, assisted by David Mitchell and Andrew Dawson, hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Bazsinksy House. Special guests were out-of-town guests, members of the wedding party, parents of the bride and groom, Juanita Yates, Robert Hubbard, Rebecca Tribble, Carla Brinna and aunts of the groom, including Mary Jo Yates Harris.
Engagement party
The bride’s parents hosted a Hawaiian luau engagement party at the Drake home. Special guests were grandparents of the bride and groom.
Showers
Berteal Rogers, cousin of the bride, hosted a miscellaneous shower at her home in Tallulah.
L.J. and Tonya Drake, brother and sister-in-law of the bride, honored the bridal couple with a barbecue shower at the Drake home. Special guest was the bride’s mother.
Evan Wilson Morales, Verna Whitaker and Linda Collins, aunts of the bride, honored her with a shower at the Morales home. Special guests were family and friends of the bride.
