A Lorman man was in the Warren County Jail this morning accused of two break-ins in the county Thursday.

Dennis Matthew Johnson, 21, 3062 Woodvine Road, was arrested at 12:23 a.m. Sunday by two Warren County deputies and a Vicksburg police officer after law enforcement officials named him as a suspect in the Hinds Community College Vicksburg campus break-in reported Thursday. In that burglary,  a Sony DVD player valued at $250 and three Dell desktop computers valued at $1,500 each were reported stolen from a classroom, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said.

Pace said officials spotted Johnson driving a green Cadillac Fleetwood with a gray driver-side door near Monroe Street, and after a search of the vehicle, some of the missing computer parts and a hydraulic device to unlock doors in the car were found in the trunk.

The device, Pace said, is “normally sold to law enforcement officials,” but not illegal to possess unless it is used for illegal purposes. He said it was unclear if Johnson had used the device to break into the classroom. Johnson also is accused of breaking into a vehicle in the campus parking lot at the same time, but nothing was missing.

He is charged with grand larceny, business burglary, auto burglary and possession of a burglary tool.

He was held without bond pending an initial appearance.
