A Texas man died Saturday night after being thrown from his motorcycle on Interstate 20 in Madison Parish following a collision with another motorcycle.

David Martin, 54, of Onalaska, was headed west on his 1975 Harley-Davidson between Delhi and Waverly when he tried to pass a 2006 Harley driven by Gordon Massengale, 62, of Rayville, La., at about 7:30 p.m., said Trooper First Class Mark Dennis of the Louisiana State Police.

Martin’s motorcycle sideswiped Massengale’s, causing both men to fall, Dennis said.

Martin was then hit by a 2009 Peterbilt tractor-trailer driven by David McCarn, 48, of Goodwater, Ala., Dennis said. Martin was pronounced dead at the scene by the Madison Parish coroner.

Massengale was treated at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, and McCarn was not injured, Dennis said.
