The 2008 conviction of a Vicksburg man for kidnapping and armed robbery was upheld by the Mississippi Court of Appeals in a ruling issued Feb. 16.
Quintin Williams, 23, who lived at 3544 Wisconsin Ave., was convicted by a jury March 23, 2008, of kidnapping, pistol whipping and robbing 26-year-old Madalisoh Hargrove, who was 6 months pregnant.
Hargrove had strapped her 3-year-old son in the back seat of her car and was loading a parcel when Williams approached her and hit her on the head with a gun. He climbed into the back seat with Hargrove’s son and forced her to drive him to a Bazinsky Road ball field, along the way pointing the gun at the child.
Williams was sentenced by then-Circuit Court Judge Frank Vollor to 25 years on the armed robbery conviction, 30 years each on two counts of kidnapping, and three years for being a felon in possession of a weapon. The sentences were imposed consecutively.
Among Williams’ appeal claims were that the victim’s pre-trial identification of Williams should not have been allowed into evidence, that other exhibits should have been provided to jurors and that the judge issued improper instructions to the jury.
Appellate judges found all claims to be without merit.
