VHS student arrested for statutory rape

A Vicksburg teen was arrested at Vicksburg High School Tuesday morning for statutory rape.

Kendrick Jones, 18, 251 Demby Drive, was picked up at the Drummond Street school at 10 a.m. on a complaint filed against him Feb. 19, Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

Jones was accused of having sex with a child under 16, Stewart said. He was released from the Warren County Jail on $15,000.

Passenger in chase jailed on pot charge

A Vicksburg woman was arrested Tuesday for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Rayshanti Price, 20, 109 Drusilla Lane, was a passenger in a 1994 Lincoln Town Car with Kevin Maurice Palmer, 26, same address, who was arrested on the same charge Monday night after a foot chase with deputies, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said.

Deputies believe Price knew the pot was in the car, Pace said.

Price was at the Warren County Jail today being held without bond pending an initial court appearance. Palmer remained in the jail on $7,500.

Jackson man held for probation violation

A Jackson man was in the Warren County Jail today for probation violation, records showed.

Oscar Williams, 40, 1105 McDowell Road, was being held without bond.

Gun, weapon, cash missing from cars

Electronics, a weapon and cash were missing in three auto burglaries reported in the city Monday, Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

Assorted Rockford Fosgate sound equipment reported stolen from a 1998 Chevrolet Tahoe in the 3800 block of North Washington Street at 5:19 a.m. were a 1,500-watt amplifier valued at $300, three 12-inch subwoofers valued at $200 each, four 6-by-9-inch speakers valued at $150 and two tweeters valued at $100 each.

A Hewlett-Packard laptop computer valued at $800 was reported stolen from a 2007 Pontiac G6 in the 1000 block of National Street at 6:53 a.m.

A Glock .40-caliber semi-automatic handgun valued at $600, a Canon digital camera valued at $2,000 and about $200 were reported stolen from a 2005 Ford pickup in the 100 block of Windham Street at 9:41 a.m.

Also, a Husky pressure washer valued at $1,497, a Gen-Core 7,000-watt generator valued at $1,495 and three water hoses valued at $25 each were reported stolen from a utility trailer in the 800 block of Cherry Street at 1:50 p.m.

In the county, records showed electronics were missing in an auto burglary in the 1500 block of Green Hill Road Monday.

At 9 a.m., two 12-inch JL audio subwoofers in a Pro Box enclosure were reported stolen from a 1997 Chevrolet Z71.

House on Redwood damaged in fire

Smoke and heat damaged an unoccupied house at 4233 Redwood Road Sunday evening.

At about 5:30 p.m., firefighters from Northeast and Culkin volunteer fire departments responded and extinguished the flames in about 15 minutes, said Kelly Worthy, fire coordinator for Warren County volunteer fire departments.

Flames were limited to a few rooms, he said. No injuries were reported.
