Man beaten with his own gun

A Vicksburg man who was showing a gun to two men required medical treatment after being pistol-whipped with the weapon.

Richard Wilson, 19, 597 Redbone Road, reported at 7:42 p.m. that he was attacked with a 9 mm handgun by two men after he showed it to them while standing outside at a mobile home park in the 100 block of Meadowbrook Drive, Lt. Bobby Stewart of the Vicksburg Police Department said.

He said one of the suspects took the gun and struck Wilson in the head and face, then the two stole $300 and the gun before fleeing in an unknown direction.

Wilson was treated for an injury to his nose and released from River Region Medical Center, hospital spokesman Allen Karel said.

One of the suspects has been identified, but no arrests had been made.

Laptop computer missing in city

A Dell laptop valued at $899 was reported missing at 7:20 p.m. Tuesday from a home in the 100 block of RL Chase Circle.

Fight at job computer leaves one injured

The WIN Job Center, a state building, on Monroe Street was on a brief lockdown Tuesday around 11:20 a.m. after two men fought inside.

Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said one man returned to a computer he had been using in the center’s resource center and saw another man sitting down in front of it.

After a brief discussion, the men fought, Stewart said, before one went to his car and returned and fled after implying he had a weapon.

No charges were filed, and no weapon was produced.

The injured man was treated at the scene.
