James Loyd “Jim” Allison Jr., 54, of Vicksburg, died Tuesday, March 16, 2010.
A memorial service will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry White officiating. Visitation will be from noon until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Allison was a graduate of Warren Central High School. He received a music scholarship to Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, La., where he majored in music. He was a member of the Louisiana Tech University marching band, orchestra and jazz bands. He was a percussionist for numerous music and theater groups and worked as a paramedic for the Vicksburg Fire Department. He was a member of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his father, James “Bill” Allison Sr.; a brother, Hyram Aroy Allison; maternal grandparents, James Melvin and Musa Curran Holman; and paternal grandparents, Hyram Aroy and Nora Helen Allison.
Survivors include his mother, Iris H. Allison of Amory, Miss; two sons, James L. “Trey” Allison III and David Wesley “Wes” Allison, both of Vicksburg; a sister, LaDonna A. Thomason of Vicksburg; a nephew, John A. Thomason IV (Brittany) of Vicksburg; a niece, Shannon T. Emerson (John Carl) of Vicksburg; and great-nieces, Morgan Emerson, Megan Emerson and Kynsliegh Thomason, all of Vicksburg.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Johnston, James Pickens, Dr. Hildon Sessums, Buzz Pickens, Bert Carraway, Bill Porter, Mike Demeranville, Paul Massey, Bob Lucchesi and Taylor Evans.
