CARTHAGE — John “Johnnie” Preston Barrett, 74, a retired heavy-equipment operator, died Monday, March 22, 2010, at his home.

Visitation begins at 6:30 tonight at Wilcox Funeral Home in Carthage. Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Wilcox Chapel with the Revs. Bill Huffmaster and Matt Buckle officiating. Burial is at Cedar Grove Cemetery near Lena.

Mr. Barrett was a native of Neshoba County and a member of  First Baptist Church of Vicksburg.

Preceding him in death were two brothers, David and Robert Barrett.

Survivors include his wife, Willie Jean Barrett of Vicksburg; sons, Johnnie Russell Barrett of Shivers and Rufus (Teresa) Nowell of Redwood; daughter, Sandra Barrett Renfroe of Vicksburg; brothers, Richard Barrett of California, Charles Barrett and Jerry Wayne Barrett, both of Pearl; a sister, Frances Corlis of Downy, Calif.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren
