Mary “Mae” Evans died Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at River Region Medical Center. She was 72.

Ms. Evans attended Bowman High School. She was employed at The Valley department store for many years and was later employed at McRae’s department store. She was a member of Bright Morning Star M.B. Church where she served as building fund secretary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Martha Evans; and five brothers, Willie Evans, Leon Evans, Freeman Evans, Clarence Evans and Lawrence Evans.

Survivors include two sons, the Rev. Kevin Evans of Albany, Ga., and Dwayne Evans of Charlotte, N.C.; and one daughter, Paula Evans of Vicksburg; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
