Alexander Slaughter Sr.

Alexander Slaughter Sr. died Thursday, April 1, 2010, at his home. He was 87.

A Warren County native, Mr. Slaughter retired from the Vicksburg National Military Park after 23 years of service. He was a veteran of the Army, serving in World War II. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by a son, Gerrod Slaughter; his parents, Albert Sr. and Lucy Slaughter; three brothers, Albert Slaughter Jr., Arthur Slaughter and Charles Slaughter; three sisters, Martha Ann Price, Eva Havard and Josephine Slaughter; and one granddaughter, Katerine Elizabeth Slaughter.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Eva Woods Slaughter of Vicksburg; three sons, Alexander Slaughter Jr. and Bernard Slaughter, both of Dallas, and Christopher Slaughter of Vicksburg; eight daughters, Sandra Allen, Sonya Cunningham, Faye Victoria Slaughter and Sylvia S. Williams, all of Dallas, Mary Bonnetty of Killeen, Texas, Susan Slaughter of Enterprise, Ala., Agnes Slaughter West of Bolton and Shingyhun Flowers of Vicksburg; and other relatives.
