Deception won’t stand

Charlie Mitchell libeled the Ole Miss student body by saying it voted to let Colonel Reb go. The last time the students voted directly on the issue was in 2003 and 94 percent of students voting wanted to keep him. This most recent vote was not whether to keep the colonel, but having been decided by the chancellor that he would never come back, did the students want another on-field mascot or do without one and if the administration decided to adopt a new mascot, did the students want in on the decision or did they want the administration to pick one itself?
To say that either way the students voted means Colonel Reb had to go only illustrates his other conclusion that perception tops reality. That is so only because the liberal pinko press and faculty of Ole Miss allows its own version of reality to be the only one expressed.
