Lorelei Books in downtown Vicksburg will host local poet Murray Shugars April 30.

Shugars will read selections from “Songs My Mother Never Taught Me” and other works at 7 p.m. at the bookstore at 1103 Washington St.

The event is free, but reservations are required.

Shugars, who has returned from a tour of duty in Iraq, teaches at Alcorn State University and is a reservist in the Army National Guard. He and his family live in Vicksburg.
