KENNER, La. — Maurice Rutz Van Norman, 57, died Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at home in Kenner, La.

Born in Anchorage, Alaska, he grew up in Vicksburg and graduated from Warren Central High School in 1971. He was a pre-med major and member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity at the University of Mississippi, graduating in 1975.

He made his home in the New Orleans area for the past 27 years and was a medical administrator. Among his interests and activities were golf, Mardi Gras, Ole Miss and Saints football.

He was preceded in death by his father, Maurice Reed Van Norman; mother, Doris Dee Mayes; and stepfather, Harvey “Ikey” Lee Mayes, all of Vicksburg.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and John Herren of Oxford; a son, Brandon Van Norman of Oxford; one brother, Tony Van Norman and his wife, Cheryl, of Vicksburg; and one sister, Denise Nevels and her husband, Warren, of Vicksburg.

Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg with Pastor Bob Hildebrandt officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation is from noon until service time.

Pallbearers: Stan Sullivan, Charles Lazare, Ronnie Hankins, Bill Starr, Ray Starr, Tim Deano, Bob Pastor and Tony Wickramasekera.
