Appliances, gadgets hot in city burglaries

Sixteen burglaries were reported in Vicksburg during the weekend, Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

On Friday:

• A Kenmore stainless steel refrigerator valued at $730 and a Kenmore stainless steel range valued at $515 were reported stolen from a home in the 100 block of Roseland Drive at 12:22 p.m.

• At 12:25, a Whirlpool stainless steel oven valued at $700 and Frigidaire stainless steel refrigerator valued at $600 were reported stolen from a home in the 100 block of Allendale Drive.

• At 3:20, a PlayStation 2 valued at $150 and 52-inch Philips flat-screen TV valued at $800 were reported stolen from a home in the 400 block of Locust Drive. At the same time, in the 1900 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, a Yamaha lawn mower valued at $195 was reported missing.

• At 5:56, a Motorola Blackberry cell phone valued at $350 was reported stolen from a home in the 100 block of Elizabeth Circle. And, at 8:23, a Hewlett-Packard computer valued at $700 was reported stolen from a home in the 500 block of Belva Drive.

On Saturday:

• About $3 in change, a T-shirt bag valued at $10 and a lawn mower were reported stolen from the Hot Dog Man, 1710 Monroe St., at 7:17 a.m. The lawn mower was found in the 1700 block of Monroe Street. The owner had also reported missing hot dogs and sodas.

• At 1:10 p.m., a JVC radio/CD player valued at $325 was reported stolen from a 1997 Mazda Millenia in the 1200 block of China Street.

• At 3:40, a ruby and diamond bracelet valued at $200, an Xbox 360 valued at $250, an Olympus digital camera valued at $80, two gold ankle bracelets valued at $75 each and a gold ring valued at $125 were reported stolen from a home in the 100 block of James Court.

• At 8:22, a TomTom GPS valued at $110 was reported stolen from a 1997 Saturn in the 700 block of U.S. 61 South.

On Sunday:

• A 32-inch LG TV valued at $500 and an Acer laptop computer valued at $800 were reported stolen from a home in the 1500 block of Marcus Street at 11:53 a.m.

• At 4:24 p.m., a First Generation iPhone and charger valued at $400 were reported stolen from a 2009 Ford F-150 in the 900 block of First North Street.

• At 4:25, a tan purse valued at $15 and about $55 were reported stolen from a 1999 Jeep Cherokee in the 900 block of Second North Street. At the same time and place, an Apple iPod and charger valued at $300 were reported stolen from a 2004 Cadillac CTS.

• At 8:32, a PSP valued at $200 and six games valued at $40 each were reported stolen from a home in the 100 block of Athens Drive.

• And, at 11:11, about $20 was reported stolen from a home in the 100 block of Kings Drive.

One hurt in wreck on Oak Ridge

A 1-year-old was injured in a one-car wreck Saturday afternoon on Oak Ridge Road, Warren County Sheriff’s Department records showed.

Ronnie Brown III was riding in a 2004 Mercury Sable with his father, Ronnie Brown Jr., 22, and mother Elizabeth Brown, 21, all of 10085 Oak Ridge Road, when the wreck occurred. Brown was northbound when a vehicle in front of him slowed abruptly. The Browns’ Sable left the road and struck a utility pole.

The child was treated and released from River Region Medical Center, said spokesman Allen Karel.
