Margaret Howard Evans died Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at University Medical Center. She was 79.

Mrs. Evans was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg and a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church. She was a retired nurse’s aide.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Evans; her parents, Lee A. Howard and Sarah Baker Howard; and a sister, Hazel Tyler.

Survivors include a son, Jimmy L. Evans and wife, Betsey, of Newellton; two daughters, Karen Goodnight and husband, Al, of Vicksburg and Joyce Doak and husband, James, of Brimingham, Ala.; two brothers, Marvin Howard of Vicksburg and H.H. Williams of Baton Rouge; a sister Jean McCoy of Laurel; seven grandchildren, Hope Nelson and husband, Marvin, of Vicksburg, Evan Goodnight and wife Amy, of Vicksburg, Kerry Ahrenholtz of Warrior, Ala., Harold Marin and wife, Debbie, of Meridian, Donna Macklin and husband, Adam, of Brandon,Ricky Evans and wife Tammy, of Vicksburg and Gary Evans of Ruston, La.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Kent Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 5 until 8 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Evans, Gary Evans, Marvin Nelson, Steven Evans, Mickey Howard, Roger Howard, Todd Howard and Thomas Lott.
