A traffic stop at East Main Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive Wednesday led to a Vicksburg man being charged with possession of cocaine.

Koury Evans, 25, 7823 Halls Ferry Road, was a passenger when Vicksburg patrolmen stopped the vehicle for speeding, police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

During the stop, police arrested Evans on misdemeanor charges after they checked his driver’s license number, Stewart said. During the traffic stop, Evans attempted to run, but was caught by police officers.
