After two state championships, it was hard to dispute the fact St. Aloysius had one of the best lineups in Mississippi. Now, though, the Flashes have the hardware to back up the claim.

Seven of the team’s starting nine were named to the Mississippi Association of Coaches Class 1A All-State team on Tuesday. Pitcher Stephen Evans was picked as the Class 1A player of the year and Clint Wilkerson as coach of the year.

Infielders Pierson Waring and Ryno Martin-Nez, catcher Brendan Beesley and center fielder Blake Haygood were all first-team all-state players. Freshman infielder Reed Evans and right fielder Regan Nosser made the second team.
