Willie Monroe Nichols Sr. died Sunday, May 30, 2010, at his home. He was 82.

Mr. Nichols was the son of James Nichols and Sylvia Smith. He was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church, where he was a financial worker. He worked for a number of years at O’Neal-McNamara and Hollis and Company. He was a former employee of Super Junior and was self-employed in lawn maintenance and janitorial services.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Charles Nichols.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Sophie Nichols of Vicksburg; two daughters, Wanda Caldwell-Wilson and LaTarsha Nichols, both of Vicksburg; one son, Willie Monroe Nichols Jr. of Vicksburg; two brothers, Alvin Thomas and Leon Thomas, both of Vicksburg; a grandson; and other relatives and friends, including the Harris, Smith, Parson, Burns, Dotson and Lawrence families.

Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
