The United Way of West Central Mississippi has set a campaign goal for the 2010 campaign year of $1,415,000 — an increase of $15,000 from 2009’s target.

Last year, the nonprofit exceeded its expectations by raising $1,423,977 — 2 percent above the $1,400,000 goal, and decided this year to set sights higher, Director of Community Investments Tami Milazzo said.

“We had some divisions that exceeded their goal last year,” said Milazzo. “They felt like they could try for a little more.”

Campaign Chair Robyn Lea said divisions including local government, large firms, commercial along with United Way and agencies increased their goals for the new year.

“I think everybody is very encouraged, I think because our goal increased from last year,” said Lea. “We have the go-getters, people who will get things done.”
