The Mississippi Braves dropped their sixth in a row as the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx beat Mississippi 4-1.
An early 1-0 Mississippi lead evaporated as the D-Jaxx scored two unearned runs in the second inning and tacked on more runs in the third and the seventh.
The D-Jaxx have won nine games in a row, with three of those coming against Mississippi.
In the top of the second inning, the Braves picked up a run when Cody Johnson’s fielder’s choice allowed Mauro Gomez to score to make it 1-0.
West Tenn answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning. With two outs and the bases empty, a Randy Gress error kept the inning alive. Kuo Hui Lo tripled to drive in a run and tie the game. Scott Stavastano singled to bring in Lo to put West Tenn on top 2-1.
An inning later, the D-Jaxx scored after Brandon Haveman was hit by a pitch. A double by Carlos Peguero and a single by Alex Liddi drove in by Haveman to put West Tenn up 3-1.
Diamond Jaxx starter Michael Pineda gave up just one run and struck out seven as he picked up his sixth win of the season.
Pineda has now given up two earned runs or less in nine of his 11 starts.
The M-Braves have been outscored 35-8 in their six-game skid.
The longest losing streak in Braves history was nine in a row in 2008.
Tonight is the fourth game of this series and the first pitch will be at 7:05 in West Tenn.
Mississippi will pitch left-hander Mike Minor (1-4, 3.68 ERA) while West Tenn will counter with right-hander Steven Hensley (6-2, 1.50 ERA).
