Hydraulic engineer named diplomate

Dr. Michael Briggs, a research hydraulic engineer with the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center, has been named a diplomate of the Academy of Coastal, Ocean, Port & Navigation Engineers, an affiliate of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
The recognition is for strides in coastal, ocean, port or navigation engineering, ethics and professional development.
Briggs has a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, a master’s in ocean engineering from the University of Southern California, an ocean engineers degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology/Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Joint Program and a doctorate in civil engineering from Texas A&M.
Briggs works in the Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory at ERDC. He is married to Mary Ann.
