Dr. Manmohan Singh Dhaliwal

MONROE, La. — Dr. Manmohan Singh Dhaliwal died Monday, June 21, 2010, at his home in Monroe, La. He was 85.

Dr. Dhaliwal was born in Samundari, Lyallpur, India, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lyallpur College and Bachelor of Education and Master of Arts degrees from Delhi University. He also received a doctor of philosophy degree from Utah State University. From 1967 until his retirement in 1993, he was a professor of social sciences at Alcorn State University.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dr. Kailash K. Dhaliwal of Monroe; two sons, Mahinderpal “Paul” Dhaliwal and Karminderpal “Karl” Dhaliwal, both of Monroe; two brothers, Dr. Amrik S. Dhaliwal of New Jersey and Gurdip S. Dhaliwal of Los Angeles; seven grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services were June 23, 2010, according to Sikh religious rites at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Monroe.
