Charlie Roberts Evans

LEARNED — Charlie Roberts Evans died Monday, July 5, 2010, at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was 83.

Born in Learned, Mr. Evans attended New Oak Ridge School. He served in the Army for three years. He worked several jobs, including farming, and retired from Tyson Foods in Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Annette Evans; four brothers; and four sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Mattie Lomax Evans; five sons, Jarvis Evans, Charlie Evans Jr., Vernon Evans, Gregory Evans and Dwight Evans; three daughters, Annette Bailey, Charlene Hawkins and Sharon Evans; one sister, Charlotte Funches of Los Angeles; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cherry Grove Baptist Church in Edwards. Burial will be at Cherry Grove Cemetery under the direction of Peoples Funeral Home of Jackson.
