A Vicksburg man was being held in the Warren County Jail Friday evening on a $5,000 bond after being arrested earlier in the day for assaulting and choking his estranged wife, Vicksburg Police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

Police responded to a disturbance report in the 800 block of Queen St. at 11:45 a.m. Patrick Bates, 42, 616 Adams St., was arrested and charged with aggravated domestic violence, Stewart said. The victim was treated and released at River Region Medical Center, he said.
