A Warren County woman was airlifted to University Medical Center in Jackson this morning after the car she was driving hit a horse on Standard Hill Road, said Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace.
Julia Lee Dunbar, 63, 1703 Standard Hill Road, was in fair condition at UMC, said spokesman Matt Westerfield.
The horse was killed, Pace said.
The wreck occurred around 5:30 a.m. in the 1200 block, Pace said. Dunbar, who was driving a 1993 Honda Accord, was transferred after being taken to River Region Medical Center.
The owner of the horse, Mike Hart, 207 Crockett Road, told deputies he believes the animal got out during the night.
