A shooting Sunday afternoon in Claiborne County sent one Port Gibson man to the hospital and another to jail.
Though details were sparse, Claiborne County Sheriff Frank Davis said Christopher Heard, 30, 191 Gordon Station Road Annex, was shot in the left leg by Telly Washington, 36, 1067 Bessie Weathers Road, around 3:55 p.m.
No further details were available, the sheriff said. Heard was initially taken to the Patients Choice Medical Center of Claiborne County and later transferred to University Medical Center in Jackson, where a spokesman said he was in stable condition as of this morning.
Washington was charged with aggravated assault and was at the Claiborne County Jail without bond, Davis said.
