A concert for the late Hank Jones, a Vicksburg native and jazz pianist, will be at 8 tonight at the Coral Room inside The Vicksburg on Clay Street.
The event, hosted by the Vicksburg Blues Society and the Vicksburg Heritage League, will feature the Rev. Dr. Ronald V. Myers Sr. of Belzoni. He is a jazz pianist and trumpeter and artistic director of the Mississippi Jazz and Heritage Festival.
Jones died May 16 at age 91. He was the pianist for Marilyn Monroe when she sang “Happy Birthday” for President John F. Kennedy in 1962. He received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement award in 2009.
Tonight’s concert is free, but donations will be accepted.
