While much of the report written by the Warren County Grand Jury meeting this week echoed previous reports, one new recommendation stands out.

The grand jury noted that it “supports the plans instituted by the Vicksburg Warren School District and law enforcement to educate young people in the city and county on the laws regarding statutory rape.”

Brenda Theriot, victim assistance coordinator with the District Attorney’s office, said it’s hard to know if cases of statutory rape are increasing or just being reported more frequently.
