The CNN Heroes nomination of local gym owner Linda Fondren will be aired on CNN news station and two of its affiliates today and Friday.
A 1-minute piece on Fondren’s crusade against obesity, as well as on other Heroes nominees, will be shown on the Larry King Live show on CNN local Channel 32 at 8 p.m. and again on Friday at 7 a.m., 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on CNN; at 5:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 4 p.m., 5 p.m., 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. on HLN local news Channel 33; and at 1 a.m., 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. on CNN International.
Fondren’s piece also will be featured on CNN’s website, www.cnn.com/heroes.
Fondren, owner of Shape Up Sisters, a gym for women, was nominated for CNN Heroes, a tribute to those who impact their community, in July by friend and publicist Bruce Bobbins.
The nomination was for her weight-loss campaign, Shape Up Vicksburg, which included a 17-week citywide weight-loss challenge and a citywide walking club of about 300 members.
Once the top 10 nominees are selected by CNN, people can begin voting for a favorite. Each top 10 nominee and the ultimate winner will receive a cash prize.
