McKnight weds Griffing

Edward Roscoe “Mac” Mc-Knight and Margaret Carolyn “Maggie” Griffing were married at 6 p.m. June 19, 2010, at the Southern Cultural Heritage Center. The Rev. George Hammit officiated at the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Griffing of Vicksburg. She is the granddaughter of Effle Lee Griffing and the late William Griffing and Virginia Strawn and the late James Strawn II, all of Vicksburg.

The groom is the son of Edward McKnight III and Kathy Corbin, both of Vicksburg. He is the grandson of Jean McKnight and the late Edward McKnight II and the late L.A. and Lena Mae Corbin, all of Vicksburg.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride’s chosen colors were latte and champagne.

A prelude of selected music was presented by Cindy Rollison, pianist.

Maid of honor was Delia Strawn of Vicksburg. Matron of honor was Lynette Taylor of Starkville. Bridesmaids were Tracy Allen, Lauren Alston and Anna Griffing, all of Vicksburg; Cory Peusch of Canton; and Rebecca Sims of Calera, Ala.

The groom’s father served as best man. Groomsmen were Will Elkins of Austin, Texas; Dustin McKnight of Houston, Texas; and Dustin Simmons, Matt Hendrix, Dusty McCain, Wesley Barnes and Jonathon Brock, all of Vicksburg.

Ushers were Jake Wallace, Danny Boler and A.J. Johnston, all of Vicksburg.

Special wedding attendants were Ashley Wallace of Vicksburg and Janice Strawn, aunt of the bride, of Aberdeen.

A reception followed the ceremony. Guests were entertained with music by Spinmeister Mel Dillon.

The couple will honeymoon in the fall. They will make their home in Vicksburg.

The bride is employed at Covenant Health and Rehab of Vicksburg, and the groom is a self-employed farmer.

Rehearsal dinner

The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner for members of the wedding party and their families at the Southern Cultural Heritage Center.

Bachelorette party

Delia Strawn honored the bride with a bachelorette dinner at Roca Restaurant, followed by an evening at Duff’s Tavern.

Showers

The couple was honored with a luau shower at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Wallace. Hosts were Jake and Ashley Wallace, Roger and Janice Wallace, Josh and Kim Wallace, Lauren Alston, Danny Boler, Tracy Allen and A.J. Johnston.

The couple was honored with a his-and-her shower and cookout at Bowmar Baptist Church Pavilion. Hosts were Kim and Wesley Barnes, Joan and Bubba Bowen, Denise and David Goree, Gayle and George Hammit, Dara and Matt Hendrix, Debbie and Doug Jeter, Cindy and Joe Lyons, Judy and Tom Mc-Knight and Cindy and Davey Simmons.

Delia Strawn, Lynette Taylor and Anna Griffing honored the bride with a recipe shower at the Strawn home.

A miscellaneous shower for the bride was held at Trinity Baptist Church. Hostesses were Lanell Tew, Janice Parker, Faye Gambrell and the ladies of Trinity Baptist Church. Special guest was Effle Lee Griffing, grandmother of the bride.
