Ann Blair Thomas and Joe Henry Stovall III were married at 11 a.m. June 26, 2010, at the First Baptist Church, Vicksburg. Dr. Joe Henry Stovall Jr., father of the groom, and Dr. Douglas Matthew Buckles Sr. officiated at the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest George Thomas of Vicksburg. She is the granddaughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Randle Sanders of Lepanto, Ark., and the late Mr. and Mrs. George Thomas of Vicksburg.
The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Joe Henry Stovall Jr. of Clinton. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. John William Bush Jr. of Pinola and the late Mr. and Mrs. Joe Henry Stovall Sr. of Clinton.
Nuptial music was presented by Jane Bird Joseph, organist; Grace Claire Cordes, vocalist; and members of the Mississippi Symphony String Trio — Vince Massimino, violinist; Bennett Randman, cellist; and Sandra Shugars, violinist.
Presented in marriage by her father, the bride wore a designer gown of white re-embroidered Alencon lace over Duchess satin. It was fashioned with a strapless neckline and a natural waistline encircled with a wide sash of double-faced, cream-satin ribbon from which fell the A-line skirt sweeping into a chapel train.
Her cathedral veil of illusion sprinkled with mirror beads fell from a headpiece of tiny porcelain flowers and clusters of pearls.
She carried a delicate cluster of lilies of the valley, vendela roses and white peonies nestled with white lilac and fragrant double-freesia blossoms. The stems of the bouquet were bonded with ivory double-faced satin ribbon studded with teardrop-pearl pins.
The four flower girls, Anna Ware Brown, Natalie Elizabeth Jones, Natalie Wren Bell and Camille Elizabeth Smith, carried petite pomanders of white spray roses suspended from showers of celadon and ivory satin streamers. They wore matching halos in their hair with satin streamers. Their tea-length dresses were of white satin with celadon sashes.
The mothers of the bride and groom carried a small bouquet of white peonies nestled into a vintage handkerchief embroidered with the wedding date.
The honorary groomsmen were James Bernard Borsig, Terry Charles Breedlove, John William Ledbetter and Charles Rowan Lindsay. The ushers were Bryan Dyer Barksdale, Benjamin Hill Thomas, Benjamin Howard Thomas and George Randle Thomas.
Scripture readers were Gwendolyn Jenkins, friend of the couple, and Benjamin Hill Thomas and George Randle Thomas, brothers of the bride.
The wedding director was Maurice Tadlock.
Following the wedding ceremony, a seated wedding lunch-eon was served to the wedding guests at the B’nai B’rith Literary Club.
The bride’s cake, designed by Heather Burns, was a multi-tiered almond buttercream confection with intricately designed icing and varying fillings. It was placed atop a double silver plateau with a garland of smilax and bridal greenery, white peonies and white and blue hydrangeas between the two plateaus. The same bridal flowers adorned the top tier. The groom’s table was laden with handmade petite desserts in the groom’s honor.
The guests tossed fresh lavender buds as the couple left for their trip to the Turks and Caicos Islands. Following their trip the couple will reside in Clinton. The bride teaches first grade at Casey Elementary School in Jackson, and the groom is owner of Stovall Management LLC.
