George Benton Williams

George Benton Williams died Sunday, Aug. 15, 2010, at Promise Hospital. He was 86.

Born in McComb, Mr. Williams lived in Vicksburg most of his life and had been a resident of Brookhaven. He was a retired engineer with the Illinois Central Railroad. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Navy Sea Bees, and he was a member of the First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by a wife, Allene Williams.

Survivors include his wife, Grace Ratcliff Williams of Brookhaven; three sons, Benton Williams of Vicksburg, Jesse Williams of McComb and James Williams of Huntington, Texas; one stepson, Jimmy Ratcliff of Brookhaven; a sister, Grace Bowers of McComb; two brothers, D.C. Williams of Hattiesburg and Aubrey Williams of St. Paul, Minn.; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with Dr. Matt Buckles officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park. Visitation will be from noon Tuesday until the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Williams, Ramsey Williams, Damon Williams, Joseph Williams, Jimmy Williams and Andrew Penley.
