It only took 3 1⁄2 minutes for River Oaks to turn Friday into the longest night of the season for Porters Chapel.

River Oaks scored three touchdowns in the first 3 1⁄2 minutes, then added three more in the second quarter en route to a 43-0 thrashing of PCA.

Quarterback Ryan MacGregor threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score, and Alex Biedenharn scored three touchdowns for River Oaks (3-0).

“They just physically whipped us. It was an old-fashioned butt-kicking. Their 11 were better than our 11 across the board,” PCA coach John Weaver said. “This was a nightmare. You’re in the nightmare and can’t wake up. They did whatever they wanted.”

PCA’s misery started on the opening kickoff. Biedenharn returned it 70 yards for a touchdown, and the Mustangs added a two-point conversion to stake themselves to an 8-0 lead.

PCA picked up a first down on its first offensive play, then went three-and-out. MacGregor hit Vincent Moore for a 42-yard touchdown moments later, then MacGregor ran 35 yards for a score with about 8:30 left to make it 21-0.

Biedenharn ran for scores of 18 and 22 yards in the second quarter, and MacGregor threw another 42-yard TD pass to Joseph Hakim as the Mustangs stretched the lead to 43-0 by halftime.

By then, however, the score was academic. PCA’s two-game winning streak to start the season was finished almost as soon as the referee’s whistle blew. Now the Eagles (2-1) will have to regroup in time to face a tough University Christian squad in a crucial District 5-A game next Friday.

“They got a taste of victory. They were 2-0. We had a chance to see where we stacked up against one of the best programs in all of the MAIS and we let it go through our hands,” Weaver said. “There’s no excuse for playing bad, and that’s what happened.”
