One of three suspects sought in a May 18 botched robbery and shootings on Redbone Road turned himself in to sheriff’s deputies and was in the Warren County Jail Friday night.

Port Gibson resident Fredrick Johnson, 26, street address unavailable, was taken into custody at 12:15 p.m. on U.S. 61 South by Detective Sam Winchester after he called the detective to arrange the surrender, said Detective Stacy Rollinson.

Johnson faces charges of aggravated assault and armed robbery.

Two other men, Cable Kelly, 30, and Darren Johnson, 22, addresses unavailable but believed to be in Port Gibson, were still at large, Rollinson said Friday night. A fourth suspect, Kevin Cross, age and address unavailable, was arrested by deputies May 26 on an unrelated charge. He was later identified in a photo lineup and charges of aggravated assault and armed robbery were added to his original charges, Sheriff Martin Pace has said.

The four are accused of shooting Justin Vinzant, 26, and Travis Scott McCullough, 27, at Vinzant’s home. After going there on the pretense of buying a dog, the men are believed to have tried to rob Vinzant and McCullough, who were shot in the attempt. Both men were treated and released from River Region Medical Center.

The weapon has not been recovered, Pace said.

Fredrick Johnson is being held at the jail without bond pending an initial hearing, Rollinson said. After being charged in Warren County, however, a warrant previously issued by Claiborne County for his arrest was discovered, so he will be held for the sheriff’s office there, she said.

Cross has been released on a $77,500 bond.

Anyone with information about Cable Kelly or Darren Johnson is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 601-636-1761 or Crime Stoppers at 601-335-TIPS. Crime Stoppers offers a reward of up to $2,500.

Kelly is black, 5-foot-11 and 175 pounds, and Darren Johnson is black, 5-foot-11 and 165 pounds.
