An apparent burglary around 2 p.m. Saturday in the Openwood subdivision is being investigated by the Warren County Sheriff’s Department.

A homeowner in the 100 block of Plantation Drive heard a noise in his home and confronted a young man standing in his kitchen, said detective Stacy Rollinson.

The intruder, described as white with short dark hair, about 6-feet tall with a slender build and in his late teens to early 20s, told the resident he was there to clean the carpets, Rollinson said.

On being told no carpet cleaning had been ordered, the intruder ran out the door and drove off in a beige or pewter-colored sedan, possibly a Toyota Camry or Ford Taurus, and was seen headed toward Oak Ridge Road, Rollinson said.

Nothing was stolen, but damage was reported to a door frame in the carport. The damage is consistent with other forced entry reports in the county recently, Rollinson said.

Deputies are working with the homeowner in an attempt to identify the intruder.
