The Vicksburg National Military Park received 6,005 votes in a national online contest, officials announced Tuesday.

The top vote-getter in the America Is Your Park campaign was Bear Head Lake State Park in Minnesota with 1,596,000 votes, or 28 percent, of the 5.7 million electronic votes cast. The park received $100,000.

The campaign — sponsored by the National Park Foundation, Coca-Cola Company and Dr. Ian Smith, a medical/diet expert on VH1’s “Celebrity Fit Club” and creator of the nationwide 50 Million Pound Challenge — aims to encourage people to visit and exercise at national and state parks.
