RUSTON, La. — Southern Miss came up with two turnovers in the final six minutes and got a one long pass play from seldom-used wide receiver Kelvin Bolden to seal a 13-12 win over Louisiana Tech Saturday night.

The win was the third straight for the Golden Eagles after a season opening loss at South Carolina. They will take a 3-1 record into next week’s Conference USA opener at home against Marshall.

Louisiana Tech falls to 1-3.

Southern Miss coach Larry Fedora said there are no ugly wins.

“There is no such thing as a bad win,” Fedora said. “We overcame a lot of adversity. We had a punt blocked for a safety and two other turnovers. We just didn’t have it on offense tonight. But defense created some turnovers and they are getting confidence as a unit.”
