Cell phone taken from car at church

A Vicksburg man was charged Sunday after a car belonging to a church-goer was entered and a cell phone was stolen.

Quincy Lamar Shields, 22, 734 Locust St., was in the Warren County Jail awaiting an initial court hearing after his arrest on Cherry Street after the burglary was reported at 11:10 a.m., Lt. Bobby Stewart of the Vicksburg Police Department said. The owner of the 2010 Nissan Versa was in attendance at Crawford Street United Methodist Church services at the time,

Church security guards saw a man enter the car through an unlocked door and leave, Stewart said. They gave his description to the police, who then picked up Shields at a nearby gas station.
