A shooting and beating after a teenagers’ party at the American Legion building on Monroe Street early Saturday sent two people to the hospital and one to jail.
The two injured were teens, ages 16 and 17, so their identities were not released, but Lt. Bobby Stewart of the Vicksburg Police Department said both were treated and released from River Region Medical Center.
Timothy Caples Jr., 19, 132 Pebble Beach Road, who surrendered to city police at 1:50 p.m. Sunday, was released from the Warren County Jail at 5:35 the same day after a $50,000 bond was posted.
He was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of attempted aggravated assault and one count of attempted aggravated assault on a police officer, Stewart said.
The shooting occurred, Stewart said, at 12:24 a.m. Saturday, minutes after the group renting the hall had begun to disperse. He said Caples was outside the building when he pistol-whipped the 17-year-old, shot a 16-year-old in the hand and shot at a 14-year-old and a 17-year-old before aiming the gun at police when they arrived. He ran west onto Bridge Street to elude police, Stewart said.
