COLUMBIA, Tenn. — James Raymond Jones, 68, of Columbia, Tenn., died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010, at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010, at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home in Vicksburg. Burial will be at Green Acres Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 tonight.
Mr. Jones was born Dec. 13, 1941, in McAdams, Miss., the son of the late Talbert Raymond and Lula Moore Jones. He was the oldest of three siblings.
On May 17, 1985, he married Jo Ellen Stanfield in Vicksburg. He served in the U.S. Navy as an electrician’s mate in the 1960s. After his discharge, he was employed in the oil field for 33 years, retiring in 1996. He did volunteer work and was very active at Riverside Baptist, his church in Columbia.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Ellen Stanfield Jones of Columbia; son, Jeffery (Dawn) Ford of Ocean Springs; son, Jim Resser of New Orleans; stepdaughter, Dawn (Jack) West of Thompson Station, Tenn.; stepson, George (Jennifer) Ezell of Vicksburg; and grandchildren, John Lee, Brandon, Audrey, Ty, Amelia, Jeffery Jr. and Abigail.
Pallbearers will be Alvin Barrett, Billy Savoie, Doug Traxler, Mike Traxler and Jack West.
Honorary pallbearers will be Leroy Lewis, Randae Davis, Billy Bennifield, Randy Rose and Joe Hickman.
