Candace Carlisle Derivaux

Candace “Candy” Carlisle Derivaux died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010, at her home. She was 40.
Born in Jackson, she attended Brandon High School, where she served as drum major. She was named Brandon’s Junior Miss and attended the University of Mississippi, where she was a member and rush chairman for Alpha Omicron Pi sorority, a Rebel Recruiter, an Ole Miss Top 10 Beauty and Miss University of Mississippi. She was chosen Miss Rankin County and Miss Lafayette County and was a Top 10 finalist in the Miss Mississippi Pageant.
She later worked in the retail business and was named an Outstanding Businesswoman of the Year by the River City Professional Women’s Club. She was the author of a book of poems, “A Cry for Love.”
She served as a pageant emcee, judge and modeling/interview coach and was a member of the Miss Mississippi Pageant production staff. She was a photographer and a volunteer with Vicksburg Catholic School.
She was preceded in death by her father, Alton Glen Carlisle Sr.
Survivors include her husband, John Allen Derivaux Jr.; five children, John Townsend Derivaux, Mattie Carlyle Derivaux, Molly Jo Derivaux, Stratton Derivaux and Hampton Derivaux; her mother, Sammie Joe Adcock Carlisle of Brandon; and a brother, Alton Glen “Sonny” Carlisle Jr. of Vicksburg.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Catholic Church with Monsignor Patrick Farrell officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetary. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home, with wake to follow.
Pallbearers will be David Blackledge, Steve Butler, Jerry Noel Derivaux, Preston Derivaux, Mike Jones, Allen Kelly, Martin Pace and Ronnie Wroten.
