City teen jailed on crack charges

A Vicksburg teen was in the Warren County Jail this morning, charged with possession of crack cocaine, said Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace.

Decarlos Spann, 18, 4798 U.S. 61 South, was arrested at 1:52 p.m. after deputies stopped him for a traffic violation at Halls Ferry and Fisher Ferry roads. The arrest came after the deputy became suspicious and called in a K-9 unit from the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics.

Seven individually wrapped rocks of crack cocaine were found.

Spann was awaiting an initial court hearing.

City man returned on bad-check charges

A Vicksburg man has been returned to the city from Louisiana on a warrant for two counts of uttering a forgery, said Vicksburg police crime analyst Suzan Ebeling.

Wilson Bryant, 36, 2711 Drummond St., is accused of passing stolen checks for $700 and $942.17 at two BancorpSouth branches on Feb. 19 and 20, 2009, Ebeling said.

He was in the Warren County Jail this morning on a $20,000 bond.

Utica man injured as truck hits tree

A Utica man was sent to the hospital after the pickup he was driving ran off Fisher Ferry Road and into a tree Thursday.

Robert Lee Andress, 20, South Ross Road, was northbound in a Nissan pickup about three miles from the Warren County line at about 2:45 p.m. Thursday when he veered off the left side of the road and hit an oak tree, said Warren County Deputy Jonathan Hern.

Andress was taken to River Region Medical Center, where he was in serious condition this morning, a hospital spokesman said.

Electronic games among missing items

Five burglaries were reported in the city Thursday, said police Lt. Bobby Stewart.

A Sony PlayStation 3 valued at $400 was reported missing at 9:41 a.m. from a home in the 1100 block of Jefferson Street.

A Cobra .32-caliber pistol valued at $199 was stolen from an unlocked Chevrolet Lumina in the 400 block of Cairo Drive at 12:20 p.m.

A 32-inch AOC television valued at $600 was reported stolen from a home in the 1800 block of Main Street.

A Nintendo Wii game system valued at $400 and a Nintendo GameCube valued at $200 were reported stolen from a home in 100 block of Kings Row at 10:20 p.m.

An LG 42-inch, flat-screen TV valued at $1,000 was reported missing at about 11 p.m. from a home in the 2000 block of Crayton Street.
