School board members re-elected north, south

Members of the Claiborne County and South Delta school districts up for election Tuesday were returned to their seats, unofficial tallies show.

Claiborne County Public School District 1 Member Johnny Brown outpolled two challengers to win. Brown received 279 votes to Gwendolyn D. Lucas’ 249 votes and Judy Banks Whitehead’s 138 votes.

Two others on the board, District 2 Member Janice Walker-Gray and District 4 Member Jimmy L. Curry, won without opposition.

Dorsey Johnson defeated Deborah Williams in South Delta School District 4, with 200 votes to Williams’ 115. The district included precincts in Sharkey and Issaquena counties.

Two new members were elected Tuesday to the Vicksburg Warren School District Board of Trustees, Bryan Pratt in District 1 and Sally Bullard in District 5.
